[MOD][Xperia U][ICS] Statusbar toggles & quickpanelsettings V3! CM9 look.

I have merged two statusbar mods together(three on the V2), other one being statusbar toggles and the other being some AOSP theming. Just move the files to system/app, overwrite and change permissions to rw-r--r--. SystemUI will crash continuously so rebooting may be tricky, but you'll get it done. And after rebooting you should have it working fine.

V2:
Changed the battery icon and added a brightness bar. Please test as i haven't had time to do so.

V2.1
Sooo, it seems that making the text not show under the toggles isn't easy(if you do know how, tell me). Also, eclipse is hard to install.
After all the work, the only thing added for 2.1 is more easily read battery percent. That is all :/

V3: second post

How to root your device (ICS): http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1886460

The first time I actually mess with the insides of apk's so please hit the thanks button if this helps/ you like it.

Enjoy!

[SCRIPT][XPERIA U][upd 11-oct-2012][ROOT] Blink v2

This is a small script to control leds on xperia u.
You will need root and busybox.

Instructions. Unzip, Put it in /system/bin , give it execution permissions (555, for example) and run it in a terminal.
Do not install it with CWM.
Use it as
blink [led] [intensity]

led list: red, green, blue, red1, green1, blue1, red2, green2,blue2,red3,blue3,green3
the ones without number are the small led next to the power button. Numbers are the notification bar, from left to right.
intensity goes from 0 to 255
0 stops blinking.
I use it with tasker for many things.
If you just use it with no arguments, it makes the power green led to blink. If you give no intensity, it uses 50.
You need to be root, so if you are using this on the terminal or adb, type "su" first.
For tasker, mark the "use root" box.

Examples:
blink red2 - makes the middle led on the bar blink red.
blink red2 0 - stops the blinking for middle red led.
blink green3 255 - blinks green right led, max power.
blink blue1 200; blink red1 - makes left led blink in a bluish violet.

You can of course modify the script to match your needs. All the info was extracted from this forums, so I cannot say that I did anything new, just put the script together.

Note1: The blink speed seems random ,sometimes is faster, and sometimes it is slower. If anyone knows how to control it, please tell me and I will try to add it to the program. Sometimes it is so slow that it does not work.

Note2: Leds-u-ctrl allows you to use the ambient bar for notifications, and it is a very nice program. If you find this too complicated, you may try that. I am not related in anyway to LUC developer.

------------
Edit : I added version 2.
New command: solid. Works as blink, but with solid light. Same syntax.
New command:ledset .
ledset [option]
options:
fadeon : sets fade to on for led blinking
fadeoff: sets fade to off for led blinking
baroff : turns off all notification bar leds
alloff : turns off all notification and power leds

Copy to /system/bin ,give permissions as usual.

[DEV Request] pre-rooted ICS stock kernel < Xperia U >

For those that have/can developed kernels:

We really need a decent pre-rooted ICS stock kernel for the Xperia U.
The current root hacks work, but are not proper.
They don't install BusyBox correctly and with it we lose the ability for advanced shell scripting.

My own app depends on the ASH shell scripting capabilities and is therefor only half functioning under ICS.
Since I sell it and make a little bit of money ($50 bucks up till now..) I want to offer a small incentive to make it fair.
And will reward a $10 donation for the person that can make a decent kernel in the next week.

I know.. it won't make you rich :)
It's just to make clear that I don't want to profit from your knowledge and time as it will help me and other ROM dev's allot.

Thanks!

CWM Touch v5.5.0.4 + Stock ICS boot_6.1.1.B.1.10 + prerooted

Hallo, this is stock ICS boot image 6.1.1.B.1.10 + prerooted + CWM Touch recovery for Sony Xperia U !

How to install:
  • unlocked bootloader reguire !
  • firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10 reguire !
  • reboot to bootloader
  • extract boot.img to adb folder and perform "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and you are done

Changelog 13.Oct.2012.:
  • first test version
  • test version 2: added process list dumper
  • test version 3: fixed system partition mount
Note about ICS CWM based version: usb is not recognised by computer! Everything other like backup/restore working propertly. Root tools is not included so you need to install it folowing this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...90&postcount=1. Boot image is rooted!

Kernel source:
  • I have no source, just used stock ICS kernel !

Recovery source:
  • Source was clone many times ago from Cyanogenmod git,
but mine modifications to recovery is not public, sorry!

Tip and tricks for my CWM version:I will integrate tool in sony menu for "one click" skins modification soon! Let me know if you want these option!

Download:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2&postcount=38

Warning!!! This boot+CWM reguire unlocked bootloader + stock chargemon!!! Do not use modified chargemon or chargemon that is SCRIPT!!! Double check if your /system/bin/chargemon is script or binary file (you can do it by android terminal emulator by command "cat /system/bin/chargemon" if you see clean text lines than its script, if you see unknown characters than you are sure that your chargemon is binary file!!! If chargemon is script do not use our boot+CWM!!! I am not responsible for any damages or data losts if you use custom chargemon!!! If chargemon is binary you can install our boot+CWM but you need to check if system partition in "mount and storage" is mountable and remountable before you going to erase system partition or to perform backups and restores !!! Allso check ps.log in your sdcard after booting recovery, just this CWM is in test stage for Xperia U and you need to be sure that "/system/bin..." processess is not in ps.log !!! Untill we are surre that these processess is not in ps.log and your chargemon is stock than our CWM will be safe!!!

CWM is safe only if you can not see "/system/bin/..." processes in ps.log !!!!!!!!!

[Module] SMARTASS governor for rooted 6.1.1.B.1.10 ROM | 2012-10-13

As usually I made my ow version of Smartass governor for phone I have. I couldn't break 1 day battery life on stock governor - so I started write my own and finally looks like there will be up to 4 days with this version of smartass governor. But I don't use my phone for listening music etc. So when phone has screen off - I require that it does nothing.

Can be only used with stock version of 6.1.1.B.1.10 ROM (ICS).

The benefits:
- allows to set max CPU freq when screen is off (to save battery),
- allows to set starting CPU freq when phone awakes (to speed up awake process),
- allows set/change almost all aspects of governor (to suite needs),
- should be a bit more responsive when parameters are well chosen for this governor.

Info:
- information about governors is here,
- more information about 'smartass' governor is here or here,
- how different governors work is explained here: [Q] SetCPU governors (explained).

Differences between my version and original:
  • When screen is on - works as SMARTASS V2 governor,
  • When screen is off - works as SMARTASS governor so max CPU freq is set to 200Mhz - to save phone battery.
  • I work on few improvement - more in TODO.

Prerequisites:
- Xperia U with stock 6.1.1.B.1.10 ROM,
- root,
- desire to replace SetCPU - when used only for 'ScreenOff' profile.

Manual installation:
  • Unzip file
  • Copy axperiau_smartass2.ko to directory where you have adb
  • Execute
    Code:

    adb push axperiau_smartass2.ko /data/local/tmp
    - this copies file on phone
  • Run adb shell or terminal - whatever you like
  • Execute following commands:
Code:

su
cd /data/local/tmp
insmod axperiau_smartass2.ko
echo "smartassV2" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo "smartassV2" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Now governor should works :)

Until you're sure that it works with your hardware, don't install it to hw_config.sh.

Available settings:
Will be added later

TODO:
- change behavior to work as ondemand governor when screen is off,
- check if switching off one CPU while screen off saves battery,
- apk that automates installation :) ....

v001:
- just initial version fixed to work with Xperia U.

Disclaimer
I'm not responsible if this module damages your lovely phone. Use it at your own risk! Think before you do something!

[DEV][WIP][ICS][GUIDE]Patchrom method to build MIUI from Source

After the Release of ICS for our phones i decided to try building MIUI for our phones
I was able to make a zip but still havent got a booting ROM
Here I Hope to bring out developers to try and help out in developing an MIUI ROM Based on Stock the Procedure is pretty Simple

This also might Help understand what this Project is about
MIcode-Patchrom

To get started with MiCode/patchrom, you'll need to get
familiar with [Git and Repo](http://source.android.com/download/using-repo).

To initialize your local repository using the patchrom trees, use a command like this:

mkdir patchrom

cd patchrom

repo init -u git://github.com/MiCode/patchrom.git -b ics

Then to sync up:

repo sync

once there

We start off like this

STEP 1: Extracting the tools
I've extracted the tools to ~/patchrom, but you can use another directory if you want. I'll call that folder the PatchROM root folder.

STEP 2: Choosing the ROM
The PatchROM docs recommend that we use a stock ICS ROM from the device manufacturer.
So i've taken thebrainfaka's beta build and used it as my Base ROM.
U could follow the same steps

STEP 3: Creating the file structure
To port, we need to create a folder inside the PatchROM root directory for our device. I created a folder called 'ST25i' and made a makefile file

You also need to decompile the following APK files and put the resulting folder on the 'ST25i' folder:
/system/framework/android.policy.jar
/system/framework/framework.jar
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
/system/app/SystemUI.apk
/system/framework/services.jar
and the apps defined on the 'local-modified-apps' below
STEP 4: Editing the Makefile
The makefile i made has the following structure:

Code:

#
# Makefile for ST25i
#

# The original zip file, MUST be specified by each product
local-zip-file    := ST25i.zip

# The output zip file of MIUI rom, the default is porting_miui.zip if not specified
local-out-zip-file := MIUI_ST25i.zip

# All apps from original ZIP, but has smali files chanded
local-modified-apps := CustomizedSettings MediaProvider

local-modified-jars :=

local-miui-modified-apps := MiuiHome Mms Settings Phone ThemeManager MiuiGallery Music

local-miui-removed-apps  := MediaProvider

# All apps need to be removed from original ZIP file

include phoneapps.mk

# To include the local targets before and after zip the final ZIP file,
# and the local-targets should:
# (1) be defined after including porting.mk if using any global variable(see porting.mk)
# (2) the name should be leaded with local- to prevent any conflict with global targets
local-pre-zip := local-zip-misc
local-after-zip:= local-test

# The local targets after the zip file is generated, could include 'zip2sd' to
# deliver the zip file to phone, or to customize other actions

include $(PORT_BUILD)/porting.mk

# To define any local-target
local-zip-misc:
        @echo Replace build.prop
        cp other/build-ST25i.prop $(ZIP_DIR)/system/build.prop
        rm $(ZIP_DIR)/system/vendor/overlay -rf
        rm $(ZIP_DIR)/system/etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/wallpaperpicker/wallpapers -rf

local-test:
        echo "an example action"

Code:

local-phone-apps = AccessoryKeyDispatcher \
                  AdobeFlashPlayer \
                  ApplicationsProvider \
                  AudioEffectService \
                  Bluetooth \
                  bootinfo \
                  CameraExtensionPermission \
                  CdfInfoAccessor  \
                  CertInstaller \
                  CredentialManagerService \
                  DefaultCapabilities \
                  DefaultContainerService \
                  enhancedusbux \
                  ES_File_Explorer \
                  FaceLock \
                  GenericApplicationInstaller \
                  Initial-boot-setup \
                  livewallpaperearth \
                  InfiniteView  \
                  MediaProvider \
                  MemcardTransportService \
                  Nfc \
                  PackageInstaller \
                  qcsemcservice \
                  Radio3 \
                  SemcCamera3D \
                  QuickPanelSettings  \
                  SecWallpaperChooser  \
                  SemcAlbum  \
                  SemcAutoPowerOff  \
                  SemcCameraUI \
                  SemcClock  \
                  ServiceMenu \
                  SoundEnhancement \
                  usb-mtp-backup-transport \
                  usb-mtp-marlin-wrapper \
                  usb-mtp-update-wrapper \
                  usb-mtp-vendor-extension-service \
                  usbotg \
                  UsbTransportService \
                  UserDictionaryProvider \
                  UxpNxtLockScreen  \
                  WapiCustomization \
                  WapPush \
                  WeatherWidget  \
                  Youtube

Now Phoneapps.mk which i included in the makefile refers to all phone apps that i dont require
I'm still not sure regarding this but this what i made it so far

STEP 5: Apply MIUI Changes
To apply the MIUI changes on the choosen ROM, type those commands in the root of PatchROM:
Code:

source build/envsetup.sh
cd ST25i # CHANGE THIS LINE TO MATCH THE FOLDER YOU CREATED IN STEP 3
make

Now it should decompile the ROM and merge the ROM's smali files with the MIUI files, and create an ZIP file with the MIUI rom.
